BLACKFOOT, ID. – Blackfoot Police Department responded to the Short Stop, in the 900 block of S. Broadway in Blackfoot, on January 1st on a report of attempted robbery. The report had been made several hours earlier at around 6 a.m. The two suspects were later arrested on Jan. 2 and Jan. 3rd respectively. The suspects were identified as Samir B. Afraid of Bear, 26 of Blackfoot, and Olivia Yokoyama, 26 of Fort Hall.
According to the police report, no money was stolen during the incident, but merchandise was damaged. Afraid of Bear also assaulted the store clerk causing a concussion.
Further investigation by Blackfoot Police and Bingham County Sheriff’s combined detective unit lead to solving at least three other business burglaries in the Blackfoot area connected to the pair.
Bail for Afraid of Bear was set at $75,000.00 for two counts of burglary, robbery, and aggravated battery. Bail for Yokoyama has been set at $50,000.00 for three counts of burglary, principal to robbery and principal to aggravated battery.
