The Mountain View Lady Buffaloes rebounded after a tough quarterfinal loss to Buffalo to defeat Lander on Friday leaving them with one final game on the season; a consolation championship against the Rawlins Outlaws. The two teams played in Pinedale earlier this year; a matchup won by the Outlaws by 1 point. This time around it was a different story however, as Haily Stephens was determined to send her seniors out on a two-game winning streak.

Stephens finished with a game-high 17 points and the Lady Buffaloes escaped with a 40-38 win to capture 4th place the 3A Girls State Playoffs. Mountain View kicked off the scoring with a three point basket from Charity Harmon and held the lead until the third quarter when Rawlins fought back to tie the game going into the final quarter. Rawlins lead for only 1:02 in the game thanks to Freshman Kaycee Bugas nailing two threes in the fourth quarter with the suffocating defense of Mountain View forcing Rawlins to turn it more than 20 times in the contest. With 1 minute remaining, Mountain View had the ball in a tie game, looking to win it at the end. Lyndee Hereford fought for post position and got a pass from Haily Stephens with 5.2 on the clock and Hereford was fouled attempting a shot. Lyndee calmly stepped up and made not one, but two free throws and gave the Buffs the 2-point lead.

Rawlins had a shot to send it into OT after a long baseball pass connected to Palmer who then threw it to the low block where Senior Brooklyn Arnold missed a layup as time expired and the Outlaws lost 40-38. Mountain View ends their season with a 19-8 record and will graduate six seniors. MyLocalRadio and Cook Brothers Broadcasting would like to congratulate the Mountain View Lady Buffaloes on a great season and wish the graduating seniors best of luck on future endeavors!
