SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man has been ordered to stand trial in the death of a 15-year-old girl he had allegedly harassed online after their relationship ended.

Third District Judge Royal Hansen ruled on Tuesday that there was enough evidence for Shaun Patrick French, 26, to be tried on a charge of aggravated murder in the 2018 death of West High School student Baleigh Bagshaw.

According to court documents, French has also been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and new counts of witness tampering after allegedly making calls from the jail trying to convince his brother and another man not to testify.

He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Prosecutors have not indicated whether or not they will seek the death penalty.

He is due back in court on Oct. 21.
