PROVO, UT. (AP) — Human remains discovered by a Utah climber may be those of a woman who has been missing more than a year.
The Daily Herald reports that a climber told police he found the remains Sunday in a ravine in American Fork Canyon.
Police say they “feel pretty strongly” the remains are those of Jerika Binks, a 24-year-old Utah County woman who went missing in February 2018.
Police say Binks told roommates she was going running in the area of the canyon about 19 miles (31 kilometers) north of Provo and left all her belongings except her cellphone.
Authorities say there is no evidence at this stage to suggest foul play, although there are signs of injuries.
Police say a medical examiner could make a positive identification as early as Tuesday.
