Salt Lake City, UT.  –  On the afternoon of January 26th, prior to undergoing surgery at LDS Hospital to remove kidney stones, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert transfered power of Governor to Lieutenant Governor Spencer J. Cox, indicating his temporary inability to discharge the powers and duties of the office.

Governor Herbert later resumed the power of Governor, around one hour later, following a successful surgery. According to attending physicians, the prognosis is for Herbert to make a full and uneventful recovery.

Lieutenant Governor Spencer J. Cox, did have some fun however, during his 1 hour as acting Governor of Utah.
