Boise, ID. – Idaho is finding themselves in a lawsuit as a transgender woman is suing the state in federal court for refusing to change the gender listed on her birth certificate. Idaho, along with Kansas, Ohio and Tennessee are the only states which do not allow people to change their birth certificates to reflect a gender identity rather than the gender assigned at birth. The suit is being brought by a 28 year old who has been living as a woman since 15. While she lives in Hawaii currently, it is considered to be Idaho’s decision as she was born in Boise. Idaho officials have refused to change the identity, so the lawsuit was filed on Tuesday.
