Boise, ID. – This year, Idaho finds itself as one of 19 states in the country which have a gas tax above the national average of 50 cents a gallon. Currently, the Idaho tax rate sits at 51.40 cents per gallon. It can be difficult to easily see how much you are paying for taxes in terms of gas, as it isn’t as readily visible as something like a sales tax. Idaho isn’t alone, as the majority of states below the national gas tax average are southern states, with Arizona, Texas, Tennessee and South Carolina sporting the lowest rates in the country.
