Boise, ID.   – Governor C.L. “Butch”Otter used his remarks to the Associated Taxpayers of Idaho today to announce his appointment of State Representative Janet Trujillo to the Idaho State Tax Commission vacancy left by the September departure of Commissioner Rich Jackson.

Trujillo, in her third term representing District 33 in the Idaho House of Representatives, is a certified tax appraiser in eastern Idaho’s Bonneville and Jefferson counties. She will step down from her seat in the Legislature, where she is vice chair of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, to accept her new responsibilities.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Idaho Senate.

“Janet has proven herself to be an exceptionally talented and capable tax professional, both in her career and in her work as a legislator. More than that, she has a real passion for properly implementing tax policy and working with taxpayers to ensure they are treated fairly and with respect. That skill set will make her a valuable addition to the Tax Commission,” Governor Otter said.

The Tax Commission’s membership also includes Chairman Ken Roberts and Commissioners Tom Katsilometes and Elliot Werk.

“There is great value in promoting effective, respectful communications with taxpayers and constituents, in resolving disagreements as well as building strong working relationships,” Trujillo said. “I appreciate the opportunity this appointment provides to put my legislative and tax experience to work on behalf of the people of Idaho in this new role.”
