Cheyenne, WY. – Approximately 100 airmen assigned to the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing deployed to the U.S. Central Command area of operations over the weekend.
The aircrew and maintenance personnel will be deployed until spring 2018 in support of overseas military operations.
The guardsmen will be responsible for flying and maintaining C-130 transport planes throughout the 20 countries the U.S. Central Command presides over.
“Our airmen deployed with the knowledge that I and the entire chain of command, up to and including the governor, support them, their families and their civilian employers,” said Col. Paul Lyman, 153rd Airlift Wing commander. “We look forward to the day we welcome them home.”
