Laramie, WY.  –  On Wednesday wildlife officials in Laramie were alerted to several sightings of a mountain lion within the city limits. The mountain lion was said to have been spotted near a day care by LaBonte Park.

Laramie dispatch received seven calls about a mountain lion, and a picture of the animal was posted to Facebook that afternoon. Wildlife officals were unable to confirm the sightings.

Game warden Bill Brinegar says it’s not rare to see a mountain lion or bear within the city limits, but stated that with so few deer in town, a mountain lion would have little reason to stay for long.

Local law enforcement agencies searched for the lion along side Game and Fish personnel, but the lion was not found during the 90 minute search.
