Gillette, WY. – A Monday night lightning storm sparked multiple fires in Campbell County. A total of 17 fires are were burning in the county last night, with the largest having grown to more that 1,000 acres in size.
The Stallions Fire, is the largest of the fires, burning in the Bittercreek area. This fire has grown to approximately 1,000 acres overnight and is threatening several structures. Firefighters have been on scene fighting the blaze around the clock with the assistance of multiple agencies.
The Coon Track Creek Fire is located South of Rozet, and is estimated at 800 acres.
Of those 17 fires, some have been contained, while others are still actively burning.
The burning fires are creating a lot of smoke, which will be an issue in the area for a least a few days.
