Casper, WY. – The defamation lawsuit filed by former Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction, Cindy Hill, was dismissed by a judge on Monday.
Hill filed the suit against Tim Stubson, a former Casper state representative, in February of 2016 while he was running for a U.S House seat. In the suit Hill claimed that Stubson defamed her in a Facebook post by promoting malicious and false statements about her, including a remark that Hill had committed illegal acts while serving as superintendent.
The judge said that he considered the Facebook post to be the exact type of statement the First Amendment is designed to protect.
