CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Wyoming has fallen behind after the first game in the three-game College Basketball Invitational championship series.
A slow start offensively hindered the Cowboys in a 91-81 loss to Coastal Carolina Monday night in Conway, South Carolina.
The teams will play game two of the series in the Arena-Auditorium on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Laramie.
If the Cowboys win it will force a third game on Friday at 5 p.m., also scheduled to take place in the Arena-Auditorium.
On Monday night, Jason McManamen led Wyoming with 19 points. Senior Jason McManamen hit four three-pointers, adding to his school record (207 career threes).
Junior forward Alan Herndon finished the night with 14 points, and sophomore guard Justin James 12.
“We have to get better as a program on the road,” UW head coach Allen Edwards said. “Coastal Carolina protected their home floor with great energy and physicality. We tried to fight back, but we allowed too many points tonight.”
