Jackson, WY. – At around 1 p.m. on Friday, the Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to an accident on U.S. 26-89 in Snake River Canyon.
The driver was killed when the car hit a guardrail, went off-road and down an embankment, ending up in the river.
The surviving passenger said she thinks that her husband fell asleep, then over-corrected upon waking, leading to the accident.
Search and rescue retrived the man’s body but he died at the scene.
Two fishermen heard the woman screaming and found her standing in the water near the accident then called for help.
