LAVA HOT SPRINGS, ID. – A fatal crash west of Lava Hot Springs is being investigated by the Idaho State Police. The crash occurred around 1:10 p.m on Sunday October 7th.

Jason Huffine, 22, of Pocatello, was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on US-30. Marea Betty, 61, of Lava Hot Springs, was pulling out from a private driveway in a 2008 Ford Edge. The motorcycle struck the Ford.

Huffine died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. Betty was transported to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello by ambulance.

Huffine was not wearing a helmet. Betty was wearing her seat-belt at the time of the crash. The lanes remained blocked for approximately two and a half hours while crews cleared the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
