Evanston, WY. – The Monviso Fire experienced no growth early in the week, and weather conditions permitted fire fighters to continue full suppression efforts. With cool temperatures and little wind, fire behavior was moderate. There was no visible smoke. The observed fire behavior was smoldering, creeping through thick overgrown vegetation. The fire is now 75 percent contained.
On Monday, Fire managers directed crews to continue full suppression of the fire which is contained within the private lands of Monviso. The Incident Management Team (IMT) is making arrangements to transition back to the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands on Wednesday. Two helicopters and one hotshot crew have been released, but three fire crews and one helicopter remain as of Monday.
The evacuation order for the Monviso Subdivision had been lifted. Homeowners may return to the area; however, fire fighters are still working the area and caution is advised. Be careful on roads and slow speeds for firefighter and public safety. Wildlife are abundant in the area and may present driving hazards.
