PRESTON, ID. – According to Preston Police, a 26 year-old man was admitted to Franklin County Medical Center early this morning. He later died from injuries sustained from an apparent gunshot wound. An officer was dispatched to the medical center, just after 7:50 a.m., on a report of a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The man had been driven to the hospital by friends after being shot during an altercation. Evidence suggests that the altercation which may have lead to the shooting took place in Layton, Utah.
Preston City Police Department notified the Layton City Police Department of the situation later in the morning at around 9 a.m., and several witnesses to the incident were been brought in for questioning.
“Preston City and the Franklin County law enforcement are now working closely with the Layton City Police Department in support of their ongoing investigation,” Preston Police Chief Mike Peterson said in a statement.
The investigation on-going and is currently centered in Utah as there appear to be no connections to Preston City or Franklin County.
